The Vatican announced on Thursday that an Italian adolescent, who was informally referred to as “God’s Influencer” for his use of computer skills to disseminate the Catholic faith, is slated to become the first saint of the millennial generation.
In 2006, Carlo Acutis passed away at the age of 15 due to leukemia. He was born in London and spent his childhood in Milan, where he oversaw the website for his parish and, subsequently, a Vatican-based academy. Additionally, he employed his computer expertise to establish an online database of Eucharistic miracles from around the globe.
TIn 2020, the teenager was beatified, marking the initial stage toward sainthood, following the attribution of a single miracle to him. cutis is credited with the recovery of a Brazilian infant from a congenital disease that affected his pancreas in that miracle.
During a meeting with Cardinal Marcello Semararo, the director of the Vatican’s saint-making department, on Thursday, Pope Francis attributed a second miracle to Acutis.

A year following his death, his body was relocated to Assisi and is currently on full display in conjunction with other mementos associated with him. Reuters reported that he was also designated as a patron of the World Youth Day in Lisbon last year due to his “significant contribution to evangelization through the internet.”
The pope also promoted the sainthood of six men and a woman.
