On Monday, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made the following statement in regard to a recently signed funding package that includes approximately $14 billion for Israel’s defense: “We will ensure that Israel receives the full sum specified in the supplemental.”
According to congressional aides who spoke to the Associated Press, the bundle comprises $60 million for mortar projectiles, $500 million for tactical vehicles, and approximately $700 million for tank ammunition. In order to deliberate on a transfer of armaments that has not yet been disclosed to the public, they consented to maintain their anonymity.
Congress approved a $95 billion foreign aid measure last month, which allocates military assistance to Taiwan, Ukraine, and Israel.
Furthermore, the House is scheduled to deliberate on a measure this week that mandates the State Department and the Defense Department to implement “prompt delivery” of military equipment. The legislation’s passage through the Senate is improbable, despite the White House’s sworn veto.
